The following are only some of the possible involvement opportunities. We invite you to attend one of our ongoing orientations where we can explore together how your gifts and interests might be put into service.

House Party ~ A Glimpse at Homelessness
Would you consider hosting a House Party in your home on behalf of Acres?  Amidst the fun of games and hands-on activities your guests will get a glimpse at homelessness. They will learn how families arrive at our door, the unique challenges they face, and may truly be changed as they come away with solutions they can affect. Staff will work with you every step of the way to bring success to your event. Here are some quotes from the parties already held:

Mentoring ~ Training classes are ongoing.
Befriend a resident upon her arrival and walk with her as she makes good choices and develops better habits. Touch base by phone once a week, and plan to get together one or two times each month.

Childcare (1 – 4 times per month)
Serve the women by caring for their children during one-hour Bible study classes on Monday or Thursday evenings.

Adopt-a-Room
Decorate a room for a new resident any way you would like — use matching bed linens, colorful throw pillows, inspirational wall hangings, or posters, etc.

Shower for Residents Moving to Their Own Residence
Hold a party with your group for basic household items that will be needed when residents, who came with nothing, move into their own place.

Tutoring
Work with young students on their school assignments. Befriending and mentoring a youth in this way can have long-lasting effects on their lives, as well as your own.

Handy Person
Are you available for occasional maintenance projects? Painting, adjusting, replacing, etc.

Have a Pickup?
Would you be willing to take a load to the dump once in awhile?

Join the Board!
Meet and pray with us once a month as we all work toward the overall vision the Lord has for Acres of Diamonds.

Your Craft or Skill
Do you have a craft or hobby that you would like to share with the women and/or children? Your creativity is most welcome. Are you interested, or have a talent in: photography, gardening, knitting, sewing, scrapbooking, cooking, or crocheting?
